Created by Debbie Attias in 2012, Dancorcism is the culmination of her experience as a performer with Avenue D, her group that toured the world in the ‘00s, and her current practice as a healer.

For over a decade, Debbie’s brought people together in joyful classes throughout NYC and beyond. Dancorcism has been an interactive stage performance at House of Yes, the NYC Dance Parade, Apexart, the Merriweather Post Pavilion, and the Fringe Festival in Perth, Australia, as well as workshops at the Standard Hotel Miami, as a class at NYU and Pratt, and as experiences in natural locations such as the Ocala National Forest and on a remote island in Panama.

When Covid-19 forced a collective shift away from in-person gatherings, Dancorcism became an online dance happening and a means to find togetherness and support beyond the screen. During those times, Dancorcism also became a means for joyful activism, dancing with Joy to the Polls and also raising funds for voter rights, bail funds, sending medical oxygen to India, the AAPI community fund, and more.

The Dancorcism training is a unique course of self discovery and personal transformation that includes an illustrated book and a music album and is now a global community of Dancorcistes.

I’ve danced w the BEST ;)

“Debbie is one of the most gifted healers have the pleasure of knowing. Her incredibly fun and special class, Dancorcism, has gotten me through some of the darkest times (Pulse nightclub shooting, Trump’s election, Bowie’s death, Covid-19) You have to experience the class for yourself. All I can say is it is much more than dance. It is energy work and it brings you so much joy. I smile through the whole thing and sometimes cry.”

-Kirin W.

“WOWWWW that was so incredibly fun — I was having a gloomy day (gloomy week, if I’m being honest) and Dancorcism got me in a place of joy...and dare I say, hope?!”

-Mollie F.

I loved this class so much. Debbie is DIVINE. I left feeling energized, light and completely relaxed.

“Though I did dance class as a kid, I was someone who never ever ever danced at parties as I grew too shy, and this class helped me free up some some of those old patterns. I never thought I could move in certain ways... thank you for helping to open the door!!! ”
